Dating in Mistria: Is It Possible?

by Sarah Mar 29,2025

NPC Studio’s *Fields of Mistria* has earned a reputation for its compelling marriage candidates and engaging dialogue, as well as its thoughtfully crafted romance questlines. So, can you date the romance options in *Fields of Mistria*?

Currently, the straightforward answer is no – not technically. However, having invested over 100 hours in trying to win March's affection, I can confidently say that the game's existing romance system is still well worth the time and the $13.99 price tag on Steam.

With *Fields of Mistria’s* first major update in November 2024, the game increased the heart cap from four to six and introduced one new heart event for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These new events unlock at regular intervals, with interactive cutscenes at two, four, and six hearts. NPC Studio has plans to introduce eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, although no specific dates or details have been confirmed beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which will not feature an increased heart level cap or new heart events.

While the idea of taking on more quests in Mistria is thrilling, new players might be disappointed by the current pause in romance development. Nevertheless, *Fields of Mistria’s* romance is outstanding even in its current form, largely due to the game’s rich, realistic dialogue, which becomes delightfully flirty when it comes to romance options.

The same can be said for the existing heart events. While early cutscenes might seem strictly platonic, they are crafted with enough ambiguity to allow for romantic interpretations, at least in setting, and your romantic relationships deepen as you progress. This makes the romantic pacing in *Fields of Mistria* exceptionally rewarding, even without the ability to go on an official date.

New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* just because you can’t officially date yet. The last major update also introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event that lets you initiate a date with eligible NPCs, provided you have four hearts with them. At the time of writing, you can spend the evening watching stars with Caldarus, though this doesn’t trigger a date at the Summit like it does with other romance options. This could change with the game’s March 2025 update, which is set to unlock the dragon’s romance questline.

For now, you might not be able to officially date NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*, but there’s plenty to keep players engaged until the feature is fully implemented.

NOTE: Fields of Mistria is currently in Early Access and content is subject to change. The above information is accurate as of Version 0.12.4 and will be updated as necessary if anything changes.

Fields of Mistria is available to play now in Early Access.
