Bloodlines 2 Team Explains Key Mechanics in New Dev Diary

This new Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 developer diary showcases exciting gameplay footage, focusing on the mechanics of vampire hunting and maintaining the Masquerade.

In the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, vampires must adhere to the Masquerade – concealing their true nature from humans. Bloodlines 2 incorporates this with a Masquerade meter, visually represented by an eye icon in the top-left corner of the screen. This meter displays three levels of transgression:

  • Green: Minor violations; simply hiding will suffice.
  • Yellow: Multiple infractions, such as feeding or using aggressive powers, have occurred. Players must manage witnesses or avoid attracting police attention.
  • Red: The Masquerade is broken, and the police are pursuing the player. Immediate escape and concealment are crucial, as the Camarilla will intervene once the meter is full. (See the included gameplay clip for an example.)

To mitigate their "infamy," players can employ various strategies: making witnesses forget, eliminating them, or, in the case of police involvement, hiding until the situation cools down.

The developers emphasize that the risk of exposure will escalate throughout the game, demanding swift and decisive actions from players to maintain the Masquerade.
