Tim Burton's Batman universe continues to expand with the upcoming novel, Batman: Resurrection, by John Jackson Miller, published by Penguin Random House. This book introduces the Burton-verse's interpretation of The Riddler and is available for pre-order on Amazon.

As revealed by ComicBook.com, Batman: Revolution follows Batman: Resurrection (2024), also written by Miller. Both novels are set between the events of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, drawing inspiration from Burton's unproduced third Batman film, which was to feature Robin Williams as The Riddler.

Here's the official summary for Batman: Revolution:

It’s summer in Gotham, and a city-wide celebration is planned. The Joker's lingering influence has finally faded, paving the way for a massive Fourth of July event orchestrated by the mayor and retail magnate Max Shreck. But beneath the surface, tensions simmer. Batman remains vigilant against escalating gang violence and masked criminals. Simultaneously, protests erupt against the city's opulent displays of wealth.

At the center of this conflict is Norman Pinkus, a seemingly insignificant copy boy at the Gotham Globe, secretly the mastermind behind the newspaper's popular "Riddle Me This" puzzles. Unknown to all, Norman is Gotham's most intelligent individual, anonymously solving crimes via the police tip line—often before Batman even becomes aware of them.

Unrecognized and unappreciated, Norman witnesses the city's elite focus solely on Batman, neglecting the struggles of the people. Disillusioned, he devises a plan: using dangerous new allies, he exploits the summer's unrest to draw Batman into a perilous game of riddles, aiming to prove himself Gotham's true savior. Their confrontation unearths hidden secrets about Gotham's past, with potentially devastating consequences for its future. Norman, now revealed as The Riddler, and Batman clash in a battle of wits.

Batman: Revolution will be released on October 28, 2025. Pre-order your copy on Amazon.
