Path of Exile 2 offers incredibly deep character customization with hundreds of skills and items. Just when you've mastered your character's abilities, you'll face the crucial decision of selecting an Ascendancy Class.
During PoE2's early access, each class has two progression paths, with a third coming at full launch. Let's explore all currently available Ascendancies!
For new players, check our guide on choosing the best starter build.
Witch Ascendancy Classes in PoE2
Infernalist
Currently one of the most powerful choices! The Infernalist wields devastating fire magic while summoning infernal hounds from the underworld. This class even allows transforming into a demonic form for increased damage and mobility, though at the cost of health.
Key nodes like Beidat's Will tie Spirit to maximum HP, encouraging Strength investment while allowing you to command undead armies.
Blood Mage
A high-risk, high-reward playstyle where skills consume HP instead of MP. Vitality Siphon and Life Remnants help offset the health drain, while Sunder the Flesh and Gore Spike enhance critical hits and attack damage.
Sorcerer Ascendancy Classes in PoE2
Stormweaver
A master of elemental destruction with high crit chance. The Stormweaver excels at applying status effects and using Spirit Gems to amplify damage against debuffed enemies. Heart of the Storm provides crucial survivability by converting elemental damage into Energy Shield.
Chronomancer
This time-manipulating specialist introduces innovative combat mechanics with spells like Temporal Rift. While currently underpowered, skills like Now and Again (cooldown avoidance) and Quicksand Hourglass (spell acceleration) show promise.
Warrior Ascendancy Classes in PoE2
Warbringer
A melee specialist combining war cries with totems for battlefield control. Warcaller's Bellow makes corpses explode during Warcries, while Greatwolf's Howl removes Warcry cooldowns entirely.
Titan
The ultimate defensive warrior with Stone Skin (+50% gear defense) and Mysterious Lineage (+15% HP). Offensive capabilities come from Earthbreaker and Surprising Strength (+40% damage vs stunned enemies).
Monk Ascendancy Classes in PoE2
Invoker
This elemental warrior uses Power Charges to enhance skills while dealing melee elemental damage. A versatile choice for those who enjoy combining martial arts with magic.
Acolyte of Chayula
A dark-themed Monk who sacrifices Spirit for Darkness-based powers. Currently less effective than the Invoker due to MP drain issues with Consuming Questions.
Mercenary Ascendancy Classes in PoE2
Witchhunter
An elite demon slayer with powerful execution mechanics. Skills like Pitiless Killer and Zealous Inquisition (10% chance for exploding corpses) make this one of the strongest current classes.
Gemling Legionnaire
A unique gem-focused class where stone colors affect stats. Integrated Efficiency adds three extra skill slots, while Gem Studded allows duplicate Support gems for incredible build diversity.
Ranger Ascendancy Classes in PoE2
Deadeye
The classic archer with enhanced range and projectile effects. Endless Munitions (extra projectile) makes this perfect for screen-clearing elemental bow builds.
Pathfinder
Master poisoner with Overwhelming Toxicity (double poison effectiveness) and gas grenade warfare. Ideal for players who enjoy DoT-based hit-and-run tactics.
Remember - these twelve Ascendancies are just the first third of what's planned. Expect changes and additions as PoE2 develops through early access toward full launch.
