Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is shutting down

by Benjamin May 20,2025

After a brief stint on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being phased out. Activision announced that the mobile version of the popular battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content and has been removed from the App Store and Google Play as of May 18th. In-game purchases using real money have been disabled, and those who haven't downloaded the app by the deadline will no longer have access to it.

This sudden move signals the end of a much-anticipated mobile release that sought to deliver the complete Warzone experience to mobile users. Despite Activision's pride in the game's faithful adaptation to mobile devices, it seems Warzone Mobile didn't resonate with mobile gamers to the extent it did with its PC and console counterparts.

Players who have already installed Warzone Mobile can continue to access and play online after May 19th. Matchmaking and online play will remain active, though social features are being turned off. There's no set date for the complete shutdown of servers yet. The in-game store will still be accessible, but only to spend existing COD Points; no new purchases can be made.

As a gesture of goodwill, players with remaining COD Points in Warzone Mobile can redeem them in Call of Duty: Mobile. This redemption window is open until August 15th. By logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, you'll receive double the value of your unused Warzone Mobile COD Points, plus additional perks.

For those who missed the May 19th deadline to install or reinstall Warzone Mobile, this marks the end of the road. No refunds will be available, and the game will become completely inaccessible. It's a sobering conclusion to what was promoted as a significant expansion of the Warzone universe, serving as a reminder that even the biggest franchises can struggle to find lasting success in the mobile arena.
