US Blocks Marvel Snap Due to TikTok Restrictions

Developed by Second Dinner, a California-based game studio, and published under Nuverse—a subsidiary of ByteDance—*Marvel Snap* found itself caught in the crossfire when it was removed from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025. This removal came alongside other apps like CapCut and Lemon8, which were also affected by the broader restrictions.

While mobile users are currently locked out, PC players can still access *Marvel Snap* via Steam. The development team at Second Dinner expressed their surprise over the sudden takedown and confirmed they are actively working to restore full service as soon as possible. A recent statement from Platform X reassured fans:

“Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”

One of the most frustrating elements for players was the lack of prior warning. Many continued making in-game purchases without knowing the disruption was imminent, leaving some feeling blindsided by the sudden loss of access.

In addition to *Marvel Snap*, several other ByteDance-linked apps were impacted, though not all were taken offline. Titles such as *Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary* and *Earth: Revival - Deep Underground* remain playable, highlighting the uneven nature of the current restrictions.

Before the disruption, *Marvel Snap* introduced the new ongoing card [ttpp], adding another layer of strategic depth to the game. As part of the Ongoing archetype, Moonstone (4/6) brings a powerful ability to the table—granting her lane the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards. This makes her a versatile pick, especially given the growing pool of low-cost Ongoing cards currently available.

While many affordable ongoing cards—like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent—focus on generating power through their effects, Moonstone stands out by offering those same benefits for free once she’s active in a lane. This efficiency could very well shake up the current meta and give players a fresh edge in competitive play.
