"The Last of Us 3 May Not Be Developed"

In recent years, talk of a sequel to The Last of Us has sparked extensive online discussion. Despite the polarizing response to its second chapter, many fans held onto hope that Naughty Dog would either address the issues in The Last of Us Part III or expand the beloved universe through a spin-off. However, Neil Druckmann’s unexpected remarks during a joint interview with screenwriter Craig Mazin left even the most dedicated fans reeling.

During the conversation, which centered around the adaptation of Naughty Dog’s game series and the games themselves, Druckmann candidly shared his state of mind following the release of the sequel amidst the pandemic. He admitted feeling unwell, preoccupied with various thoughts, and particularly troubled when isolated with nothing but the internet for company. This isolation amplified his distress as he read reviews and engaged with heated debates about his work, leading him to question whether he had indeed created something worthless.

When questioned about the possibility of a third installment, Druckmann sighed, acknowledging the inevitable inquiry. Yet, his response was definitive: fans shouldn’t expect another The Last of Us, as this might very well be the end of the series.
