Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana masterfully integrates boss battles to enhance players' understanding of the game's mechanics as they advance. Although not as lengthy as some other RPGs, the game is packed with challenging boss encounters that keep players engaged.
While newcomers might need some initial guidance, facing Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid mastery of combat, abilities, and other gameplay mechanics.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
After triumphing over Guilen, The Fire Eater, players will navigate deeper into the Zone of Lava to confront Gyalva. The key to easing this battle is to position yourself at one of the bridge's ends.
Unlike earlier encounters, movement is severely restricted here, with the bridge's platforms constantly shifting due to Gyalva's attacks. Players should focus on leaping towards Gyalva and utilizing wind magic to inflict maximum damage quickly.
Ys remains a standout series within Nihon Falcom’s offerings, and defeating its bosses brings immense satisfaction.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys 3, expands the franchise's narrative. Gyalva, a new addition to the series, boasts a diverse set of attacks that can quickly overwhelm unprepared players. Gyalva soars above the bridge, dislodging sections with fiery assaults.
To tackle Gyalva effectively, ensure Adol is well-prepared. Aim for Level 21 and upgrade your gear thoroughly. Regularly defeating smaller enemies will help you level up without excessive grinding.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva employs two spinning attacks. The first involves passing over a bridge section, causing the affected plates to spin upwards. The second sees Gyalva flying straight over the entire bridge, flipping all the plates. Both can severely deplete health if you're underleveled.
To dodge the first, swiftly move to the unaffected sides. For the second, the safest spots are the ledges at each end of the bridge. Staying near one side ensures a quick retreat to safety.
Avoid staying at the bridge's very end to prevent being cornered. Instead, maneuver around the bridge to attack Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches a fireball at the bridge, propelling the plates upwards. While this attack inflicts damage, it also creates an opportunity to land multiple hits on Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
Torches lining the bridge sporadically erupt in flames, with fireballs passing between them. Being caught in these bursts causes damage. Although unpredictable, the aftermath of a burst is a safe period for movement.
