Accessing Nightmare Crownless in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves

Nightmare Crownless, a formidable Nightmare version of an Overlord-class Echo in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves expansion, boasts enhanced Havoc and Basic Attack DMG. This guide details how to unlock it.

Obtaining Nightmare Crownless: A Step-by-Step Guide

Unlocking Nightmare Crownless requires completing the "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest and an additional step.

Completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam"

Unlike typical quests, "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" isn't initiated by an NPC. Instead:

  1. Access the Exploration Progress menu for the Penitent's End region in Rinascita. (Open your map and use the compass icon).
  2. "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" is linked to the optional "Quest of Faith." This involves defeating four enemies in specific Penitent's End locations.
  3. Begin "Quest of Faith" by interacting with the prompt near the circular arena beside the Resonance Beacon (located across the broken bridge in Wailing Ascent). This initiates a battle against a Questless Knight.

Defeating the Questless Knight

To defeat the Questless Knight:

  1. Lure it near a lit Macabre Torch within the arena.
  2. Reignite extinguished torches by using Fae Ignis enemies to strike them.
  3. Avoid using powerful skills near the torches to prevent extinguishing them.

Locating Dream Patrols and Nightmare Crownless

After completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" and "Quest of Faith," locate all four Dream Patrols in Penitent's End (see image above). While defeating them isn't mandatory for unlocking Nightmare Crownless, completing them provides additional resources. Once all patrols are found, Nightmare Crownless will appear on your map within the ruins north of Penitent's End.

Utilizing Enhanced Absorption Charges

Remember that Nightmare Echoes utilize Enhanced Absorption charges, significantly boosting drop rates. These charges are limited (15 per week), so strategize your usage if you're developing multiple characters.
