World of Warcraft China is introducing two new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts are re-imagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through extremely difficult in-game achievements. Currently exclusive to China, these mounts are the latest in a series of special rewards following the resumption of Blizzard and NetEase's partnership. This partnership brought World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to the Chinese market, celebrated with events such as the unveiling of a Lighforged Gorehowl statue and the release of the Xiao Liu pet.
These new mounts, available from January 15th, will be obtainable through separate promotions. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, visually similar to its predecessor, boasts auspicious clouds within its wings while in flight – a symbol of peace, immortality, and good fortune in Chinese culture. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded version of the original, features a stylish black saddle and flavor text referencing Kael'thas Sunstrider's iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is awarded through an event called the Treasure Workshop, details of which are yet to be fully revealed. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar is obtainable from Landro's Loot Box, costing ¥200 (approximately $27). This loot box contains one of eight items, including other prestigious rewards such as the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the extremely rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from the discontinued World of Warcraft TCG). Team-based purchasing offers bonus crates for reaching spending milestones.
While there's currently no indication of an international release for these mounts, their stunning designs are sure to capture the attention of World of Warcraft players worldwide. For now, players outside of China will have to admire them from afar.
