The Battle of Polytopia has injected fresh excitement into its gameplay with the launch of Weekly Challenges, a thrilling new feature for fans of the 4X strategy game. This update promises to enhance your strategic skills by introducing a structured yet dynamic competitive environment. Dive deeper to discover everything you need to know about this innovative addition.
From Randomness to Structure
Previously, the game's charm was heavily rooted in its unpredictability, with varying enemies, resources, and maps keeping players on their toes. However, the latest free update shifts the paradigm by introducing a more organized competitive format.
Each week, players are presented with the same map, tribe, and gameplay conditions, leveling the playing field. The challenge? Achieve the highest score possible within 20 turns. You're allowed one attempt per day, capping at seven tries per week. This setup not only tests your strategic prowess but also adds a layer of anticipation and competition.
An exciting aspect of Weekly Challenges is the opportunity to play as tribes you might not yet own. With a total of 16 tribes—four included in the base game and twelve available for purchase at $1-4 each—everyone gets to compete with the same tribe, regardless of ownership.
Will Weekly Challenges Elevate The Battle of Polytopia's Excitement?
Absolutely, the introduction of Weekly Challenges is poised to invigorate the game's community. Alongside this, a new League system has been implemented. Starting in the Entry League, your performance each week determines your movement up or down the ranks. The top third of players advance, the bottom third drop, and the middle third remain in their current league.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty ramps up. In the Entry League, you'll face AI on Easy mode, but by the time you reach the Gold League, you'll be pitted against Crazy difficulty bots. Missing a week won't result in demotion, but your ranking will adjust based on the performance of others.
