A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
With over 24 million copies sold, Hogwarts Legacy's success has prompted Warner Bros. Discovery to greenlight a sequel. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels highlighted the sequel as a top priority, stating (per Variety) that it will significantly contribute to future growth.
Wiedenfels emphasized the sequel's importance, indicating development will begin within the next couple of years.
Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad previously noted Hogwarts Legacy's high replayability as a key factor in its success. In a Variety interview, he pointed out that many players have enjoyed the game multiple times. Beyond sales figures and replayability, Haddad highlighted the game's unique ability to immerse players in the Harry Potter universe, allowing them to experience the world in a personal and engaging way. This resonated deeply with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts, a position typically occupied by sequels from established franchises.
