Shift Up, the developer behind the popular action game Stellar Blade, has unveiled its roadmap for future updates. Riding high on the game's success – boasting over a million copies sold – the developer is focusing on enhancing the player experience and expanding content. This follows a period of addressing performance issues and improving overall quality of life.
According to a recent presentation by Shift Up CFO Ahn Jae-woo, several key updates are on the horizon. Players can anticipate the highly requested Photo Mode arriving around August. New character skins will follow, with preparations slated for post-October release. A significant collaboration, speculated by Forbes' Paul Tassi to be with the Nier series, is planned for the end of the year. This speculation stems from the positive relationship between the directors of both franchises and Stellar Blade's clear stylistic inspiration from Nier: Automata.
Beyond these immediate updates, Shift Up is actively pursuing a PC release and exploring the possibility of paid DLC. A sequel to Stellar Blade is also confirmed, though details remain scarce. Ahn Jae-woo expressed confidence in the game's continued success, citing sales figures and drawing parallels to other successful titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Detroit: Become Human. While a sequel is on the cards, the developer's current focus remains on delivering the planned updates and ensuring a robust and enjoyable experience for the existing player base.
Stellar Blade Update Roadmap:
- Photo Mode: Approximately August 2024
- New Skins: Available after October 2024
- Major Collaboration: Late 2024
