Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable opponent.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game

Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three pieces before the Lifer does. Manipulating the black pieces affects the maze's walls; placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls and gates in that direction. The game can be exited and resumed, preserving piece positions. While optional for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer boasts seven buffs, significantly increasing its difficulty. Four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance; three are permanent. The buffs are viewable on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: HP recovery after 2s of inactivity.
  • Desire for Escape: Increased ATK and DMG over time.
  • Impending Stalemate: Stacking ATK increase on DMG dealt.
  • Decay of Time: Increased elemental resistances and Max HP.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: Reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after significant DMG.

To find the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow). One room requires defeating Tacet Discords, another breaking Friable Rocks, and one is simply on a table. Place each Stake in the corresponding module to remove a buff; the purple line will turn yellow upon success.

Defeating the Lifer

After removing the four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is considerably weaker, posing minimal threat.

First victory rewards a Premium Supply Chest. Second victory adds another Premium Supply Chest and three Basic Supply Chests. Third victory grants an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests. Buffs can be re-enabled for a greater challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating a line. Its mistakes will eventually provide opportunities to win.
