EA Sports UFC 5 receives a significant update on January 9th, launching at 1 PM ET for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This patch (1.18) introduces undefeated fighter Azamat Murzakanov and addresses several bugs.
EA Vancouver, the game's developer, continues to support UFC 5 with regular content updates. The initial release in October 2023 faced criticism for its limited roster; however, consistent updates have improved roster parity with current UFC rankings, now reaching 98% for the top ten.
This latest update adds Murzakanov to the Light Heavyweight division, boasting impressive stats: 97 power punch, 95 accuracy, and 94 ground striking. Additionally, three new fighter alter egos are included, though their identities remain undisclosed. Minor bug fixes accompany these additions, including a stamina cost reduction for the muscle modifier (from x3.125 to 2.5) and corrections to translation errors in certain languages. A Ranked Championship Stand and Bang issue has also been resolved. Updated portraits for Stipe and Jones (UFC 309) reflect their updated gloves.
The update coincides with EA Sports UFC 5's arrival on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play, starting January 14th. This makes the game accessible to a wider audience alongside other titles added to the service.
