What Does Ballad of the Dunes Bring to Tears of Themis?
HoYoverse has launched an exciting new update for Tears of Themis titled "Ballad of the Dunes," featuring a special collaboration with Gansu Province's Culture & Tourism. This unique crossover blends investigative gameplay with the cultural heritage of Dunhuang, the historic Silk Road city bordering the Gobi Desert.
The event weaves together history, romance, and mystery against the backdrop of ancient Silk Road aesthetics. Players will solve intriguing cases while immersed in cultural elements from this legendary trade route.
The highlight of the update includes four exclusive MR cards featuring the game's main characters - Luke, Artem, Vyn, and Marius - each inspired by different aspects of Dunhuang's rich cultural legacy. The designs incorporate traditional elements like flying apsaras, intricate murals, and the iconic reverse-held pipa instrument, all referencing artistic motifs from the famous Mogao Caves.
Each character's card presents a distinct storyline: Luke's "In the Footsteps of Silk," Artem's "Serenade of the Soul," Vyn's "Reverberation Through Time," and Marius's "Void of Creation." These special cards come with Private Messages that explore a millennia-spanning journey through history.
What Are the Rewards?
Running from February 13th to February 20th, 2025, the event offers players the chance to earn exclusive rewards including Camel Bells, S-Chips, and other valuable items through completing event challenges. The main gameplay involves a board-flipping mechanic where players uncover hidden prizes.
The ultimate collectibles are the special Ballad of the Dunes MR cards. After each completed game round, players can select one of the four limited MR cards. Those who successfully flip 100 cells will receive the exclusive Celebration - Dunes Namecard as a special achievement reward.
