Minecraft players can now uncover a surprise Easter egg tied to this year's "A Minecraft Movie" within the game itself - but tracking down a specific memorable enemy is required.
The viral "Steve's Lava Chicken" song from the film (or a fresh remix of it) has been integrated into Minecraft gameplay.
Originally performed by Jack Black's signature comedic energy, this song became one of the movie's most shared moments. To discover it in-game, players must locate the same creature featured in another popular meme-worthy scene: the Chicken Jockey.
According to Minecraft's latest 1.21.93 update patch notes, defeating a Chicken Jockey (a baby zombie riding a chicken) now drops a special music disc containing Hyper Potions' chiptune remix of the Lava Chicken track.
While this version excludes Jack Black's vocals, it transforms the original 34-second clip into a multi-minute instrumental with escalating dubstep elements. After multiple listens today, I can confirm - frustratingly - they've somehow made it even more addictive.
As "A Minecraft Movie" continues its successful theatrical run with $955 million grossed (and a special singalong edition launched), "Steve's Lava Chicken" achieved its own milestone by becoming the shortest track to ever chart on the US Billboard Hot 100.

At merely 34 seconds long, the song features profound lyrics like "la-la-la-lava ch-ch-ch-chicken" - co-written by Black and director Jared Hess. This marks Black's second video game movie with breakout musical numbers, following his Bowser performance of "Peaches" in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Even months after "A Minecraft Movie" left theaters, escaping Steve's Lava Chicken seems impossible. Naturally, discussions about a potential sequel have already begun.
