EA's highly anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game is set to be unveiled at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This exciting new title, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio formed by veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the XCOM series—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life, and they are now ready to showcase it to fans.
The first glimpse of the game will be presented on April 19 during a live panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025. The panel will feature the lead development team from Bit Reactor, alongside representatives from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, as confirmed by the official event schedule.
What to Expect from the Game
While details about the game remain scarce, including the specific Star Wars era it will be set in and the precise mechanics of its gameplay, the involvement of former XCOM developers suggests a strategic, turn-based experience infused with the rich lore and universe of Star Wars. Fans can look forward to a game that combines tactical depth with the iconic elements of the Star Wars franchise.
Respawn Entertainment, in addition to their collaboration on this project, is also developing the third installment in their Star Wars Jedi trilogy. However, there is no indication that this game will be featured at Star Wars Celebration 2025. Respawn had previously been working on another Star Wars game, an untitled first-person shooter rumored to feature a Mandalorian protagonist, but it was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA that resulted in the loss of around 670 jobs. Earlier in March, Respawn also canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, affecting an unspecified number of staff members.
At Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm will also provide a sneak peek at the upcoming movie, "The Mandalorian & Grogu," set to release in May 2026, and a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3."
