Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on a side quest titled "For Science!" This quest, triggered through interactions with various NPCs in The Zone, involves activating a second measuring device atop a silo. This guide outlines the steps involved.

Initiating "For Science!"

The quest begins at the Central Elevator in the Chemical Plant. Approaching this location will initiate a radio conversation between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose. Mongoose, located on the first floor of the building (accessible by climbing rusted stairs and vaulting a railing), requests Skif's assistance in activating a second device. Agreeing to his request starts the quest.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

Proceed to the building's roof, eliminating any rodents encountered along the way. Exit through a broken window, descend a ladder, and traverse the walkways to the silos. Be prepared for electro anomalies; equipping appropriate gear is advised. Locate and activate the second measuring device. Activating the device will attract a group of Bloodsuckers.

The Aftermath and Choice

Return to Yaryk Mongoose. He will explain the unforeseen consequences of the experiment. Players are presented with a choice: kill Mongoose for endangering Skif, or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Choosing the peaceful option rewards the player with a Malachite pass (granting access to the STC Malachite facility) and some coupons. Killing Mongoose yields the Malachite pass from his corpse. The Malachite pass is useful unless already obtained through main missions.
