"Split Fiction Surpasses 2 Million Sales in One Week"

Hazelight Games has announced that their latest cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, is enjoying a phenomenal launch, having sold 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly become another feather in the cap for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the enthusiastic response from both new and returning fans.

The game's sales momentum was evident right from the start, with Hazelight reporting that 1 million copies were sold just 48 hours after its debut. This means that another million copies were snapped up in the subsequent five days, showcasing the game's strong appeal and the compelling narrative of protagonists Mio and Zoe in their sci-fi adventure.

As a co-op game, Split Fiction likely boasts a player base significantly larger than the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, effectively doubling the potential player count. With the game continuing to gain traction on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its March 2021 launch, eventually reaching 10 million by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
