Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that several aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news comes as little surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in Beyond the Spider-Verse. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles instead bit the universe's Peter Parker. Consequently, Miles became the Prowler after the death of his universe's Spider-Man, leaving New York under the control of supervillains.
The narrative conflict between this villainous Miles and the main protagonist Miles Morales will likely be a major plot point in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a release date no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of the previous film.
