Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessories

Sony has announced a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for the PlayStation 5, adding a dark aesthetic to its popular accessories. The collection includes the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld remote player, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds.

This sophisticated collection follows previous color releases for the DualSense controller, expanding on the already available Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, Galactic Purple, and Chroma variants. The timing, coinciding with CES 2025, further fuels excitement, especially with recent rumors suggesting a significant PlayStation VR2 upgrade.

Pricing for the Midnight Black Collection is as follows:

• PlayStation Portal: $199.99
• Pulse Explore wireless earbuds: $199.99
• Pulse Elite wireless headset: $149.99

Note that the Pulse Elite headset's price is notably higher than its predecessor, the Pulse 3D wireless headset. Both the headset and earbuds include a felt gray carrying case.

Pre-orders begin January 16th, 2025, at 10 am ET, exclusively via direct.playstation.com, with a full launch on February 20th, 2025.

Beyond this new collection, Sony continues to offer themed DualSense controllers, such as the popular God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 editions. A limited-edition Helldivers 2 DualSense controller is also currently available for pre-order.
