Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week

by Finn Feb 19,2025

Sony's February PlayStation State of Play is reportedly scheduled for next week. NateTheHate, a leaker with a proven track record (including correctly predicting the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date), hinted at a State of Play during Valentine's Day week (February 10th-14th).

Speculation is rife about what Sony might unveil. Considering first-party titles slated for 2025, Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island (assuming "Yotei" is a misspelling) is a strong contender for a gameplay reveal and release date announcement. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, could also feature if playtesting plans are still on track for this year. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgame, remains a possibility. While less likely, new footage for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is anticipated given its 2025 release window. Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are also possibilities, though perhaps less probable for a major reveal at this point.

Notably absent will be the recently cancelled live-service games from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (the latter reportedly a God of War live-service title). However, Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon project reportedly survived the cuts; could this be its time to shine?

Regarding third-party titles, Physint (Kojima's stealth-action game) might be too early for a major reveal, while Phantom Blade Zero (from S-Game) seems more likely.

Finally, with Microsoft's growing presence on PlayStation, a release date for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be announced. The possibility of a Halo announcement for PlayStation also remains a tantalizing prospect. Last year's State of Play featured Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic Frontiers, various Silent Hill projects, Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2. This provides a useful benchmark for predicting this year's announcements.
