SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG receives a significant upgrade, boasting enhanced graphics, a streamlined user interface, and controller compatibility.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay was re-released by SoMoGa on iOS in 2008. This new iteration builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
The updated Vay features over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is the adjustable difficulty levels, catering to various player preferences.
Convenience is enhanced with an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support. Players can acquire new equipment and items, while characters level up and learn new spells. An AI system allows for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war, Vay unfolds on a technologically underdeveloped planet after a catastrophic machine crash-lands. This machine, designed for destruction, wreaks havoc.
Players undertake a quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that could save the world. The peaceful kingdom is attacked on their wedding day, triggering an epic journey to thwart the war machines.
Vay's narrative is immediately engaging, blending classic JRPG elements with modern enhancements. Character progression through experience and gold from random encounters remains true to its roots. The game includes nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.
Vay revamped is available now on the Google Play Store for $5.99. Check out other gaming news for more updates.
