Silent Hill f is the first title in the Silent Hill series to receive an 18+ age rating in Japan.
This rating is displayed at the start of the Japanese reveal trailer, which premiered last night, showing that Silent Hill f is rated Mature in the United States, PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan.
Although the game is still in active development and its certification could change, Automaton noted that previous entries like Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room all received a CERO:C rating—suitable for ages 15 and up—while other internationally developed series entries typically secured either CERO:C or CERO:D (for ages 17+).
Even the Bloober Team's remake of the 2001 classic, Silent Hill 2 Remake, was rated CERO:C in Japan, despite being rated Mature (17+) in most Western countries.
Last night, Konami provided an update through a new Silent Hill Transmission, the publisher's online presentation dedicated to the series. This edition focused entirely on Silent Hill f, the upcoming mainline entry in the acclaimed horror franchise—the first in 13 years.
Initially announced in 2022, Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan, following teenager Shimizu Hinako as she contends with intense pressure from her friends, family, and society. The story was penned by Ryukishi07, the creator of the When They Cry visual novel series.

The reveal trailer depicts Hinako in various states of distress, covered in blood, bearing wounds, and wearing a torn Japanese school uniform. While most of the footage comes from cutscenes rather than gameplay, it provides an extended look at the game's setting and monster designs, along with what appears to be an Otherworld dominated not by rust and industrial elements, but by vibrant blood-red flowers.
As of now, there is no release date for Silent Hill f, and no further updates were provided regarding No Code's Silent Hill game, Townfall.
