How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
At the start of Hollow Era, you begin as a Soul Spirit. To become a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you must accept the initial quest from an NPC named Hurt Shinigami. She calls for help, and once you take on the role of Shinigami, there's no turning back—you can't switch to a Hollow unless you later become a Visored. If you're set on playing as a Hollow, check out our guide on Hollow progression.

When choosing between Shinigami and Hollow, act quickly. To become a Hollow, simply break your chain. As a Shinigami, the chain will slowly break over time regardless of your actions. Every two minutes, a section of the chain breaks, and if it fully breaks, you'll turn into a Hollow. In that case, refer to our resurrection moves lists for your Hollow endgame.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your first quest as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, as Shinigamis are tasked with purifying Lost Souls and defeating Hollows to maintain the balance between life and death. Next, you'll need to deliver a letter to a Doctor near the hospital, found by the NPC standing to the right of Hurt Shinigami.

These initial quests are perfect for learning your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urakara shop. If you have the funds, using the bus stop for $200 as a teleport/fast travel option is advisable, given the large map and extensive running required. Alternatively, you can buy infinite fast travel in the Robux Shop for 149 Robux.

Quests are marked with a red crosshair. Start by defeating one Hollow, then progress to defeating 5 Corrupted Shinigamis, and continue until you reach level 15. Quests are categorized into repeatable quests, progression quests, and those linked to specific paths like Vizard and Airwalk.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, carefully plan your skill point investments. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami characters.
Kido and Reiatsu Nodes are straightforward: Kido Nodes boost the damage of Kido skills, while Reiatsu Nodes increase your maximum Reiatsu output. Here are some Kido abilities:
- Caja Negacion: Forms a beam of lightning from your finger. With Electric, it spreads electricity from the target.
- Shakkaho: Creates a red energy ball in your hand that explodes upon impact. Using Ragdoll enables you to knock back opponents, while Fire sets them ablaze.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies toward you.
- Prison of Light: Six light rods immobilize the enemy, ideal for agile foes.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving ball of lightning that damages nearby enemies and explodes on contact, perfect for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To obtain Shikai in Hollow Era, reach level 15 and visit Urihiro to start the Shikai Training quest. Defeat Urahara Kisuke to earn 1,700 exp and unlock Shikai powers.

Warning: If your character isn't optimized, defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be tough. Consider grinding to level 25 or higher before attempting this challenge.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, a random mighty ability is assigned to your weapon. If you're not satisfied with the power, you can re-roll it at the Urahara Shop for cash.
The game features a Rage Bar that fills when you take or deal damage. Once full, press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai, which ends when you deplete your Reiatsu or release the key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level depends on the Mastery Points you earn by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce the Rage spent during active usage and come with different aura effects and character appearances.
- Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
As a Shinigami, you can't switch to Hollow, but becoming a Visored allows you to break the barrier between Hollow and Shinigami, using a Hollow Mask to switch between forms. To become a Visored, reach level 50 and unlock the Vizard fighting style at the Vizard’s Warehouse.

To obtain the Hogyoku, defeat the King of Hueco Mundo, though the drop rate is only 1%. This is the first step to unlocking Visored progression, followed by acquiring the Vizard fighting style.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain Mask Control to reduce the chance of being controlled by your inner Hollow, and the Visored node extends mask wear time, boosting damage output with Hollow powers.

Visored Abilities in Hollow Era
- Hollow Mask: Allows you to control your inner Hollow and wear the mask on command.
- Cero: Charges a beam of Reiatsu for significant damage.
- Final Cero: Pins the enemy down and crushes them with a powerful Cero from above.
- Vasto Rage: Transforms you into the mightiest Hollow type for a limited time, unleashing your full potential.
What About Hollow Era Bankai?
Currently, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. However, given the game's popularity, it's likely to be added in future updates. No release date has been confirmed yet, so we await a Bankai update eagerly.
