"Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB, 4TB SSDs on Sale: Ideal for PS5, Gaming PCs"

Samsung's latest SSD, the Samsung 990 Evo Plus PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe solid state drive, is now on sale, offering fantastic value for both gamers and tech enthusiasts. You can grab the 2TB model for just $129.99, or if you're looking for even more storage, the 4TB model is available for an impressive $249.99. These prices are $40 to $70 less than the Samsung 990 Pro, and the performance difference is negligible for most users, especially gamers.

The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is an ideal choice for both your gaming PC and PlayStation 5 console. It surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, delivering sequential read speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,300MB/s. While it's not as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the non-Pro version of the 990 Evo. The key difference between the Evo Plus and the Pro model is that the Evo Plus is a DRAM-less drive. However, for PS5 performance, this difference is irrelevant. In gaming PCs, the Evo Plus uses HMB (host memory buffer) technology, which compensates for the lack of DRAM by utilizing a small, inconsequential amount of your system's RAM. Gamers won't notice any difference in performance compared to the Pro model.

The Samsung 990 Evo Plus does not come with a preinstalled heatsink. However, its new single-sided design is both power-efficient and generates less heat than older SSDs. This means it should work perfectly in a PS5 without thermal throttling, though you can add a heatsink for extra peace of mind at an additional cost of about $7.
