Exciting news for Star Wars fans: Shawn Levy, the director behind Deadpool & Wolverine, is reportedly gearing up to take a leap into a galaxy far, far away, and he's bringing Ryan Gosling along for the adventure. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy's Star Wars project has entered negotiations with Ryan Gosling to star in the upcoming film. Since 2022, Levy has been developing this movie, with a script crafted by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project.
While details about the plot remain tightly under wraps, it's confirmed that this Star Wars movie will be a standalone story, disconnected from the iconic Skywalker Saga. There's no information yet on the era in which the film is set or the character Gosling might portray. The involvement of Ryan Gosling seems to be accelerating the project's timeline. Initially, Levy was slated to direct a boy band movie with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but if Gosling officially signs on, production on the Star Wars film is expected to start in the fall, becoming Levy's next project.
