Ronin Devs' Mysterious AAA Game Emerges from Shadows

Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 financial report unveils an exciting lineup of upcoming games, including a new Dynasty Warriors title and a currently unannounced AAA game.

Dynasty Warriors: A New Beginning

Omega Force is developing "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a tactical action game set during the Three Kingdoms period. This marks the first mainline Dynasty Warriors game since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9 (and its 2022 expansion). The game, featuring a "Nameless Hero," is slated for a 2025 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

Other Upcoming Titles

Besides "Dynasty Warriors Origins," Koei Tecmo's upcoming releases include:

• Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake: Launching in October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original.
• FAIRY TAIL 2: A sequel to the 2020 RPG, releasing this winter on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.

The Mystery AAA Title

The report also confirms Koei Tecmo is developing at least one unannounced AAA title. While details are scarce, this project represents a significant step in the company's ambition to become a major player in the AAA game market. This follows the establishment of a dedicated AAA studio earlier this year.
