Rockstar Games, the creative force behind the iconic GTA series, has quietly released a new Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms. This marks the game’s first update in six years—definitely a moment worth noting! The latest patch is currently available exclusively for mobile devices and does not extend to PC or console versions.
Rockstar Hasn't Forgotten Bullworth Academy
The Bully: Anniversary Edition update introduces several enhancements, including support for additional languages, improved stability, and essential bug fixes. As part of this release, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges, likely to ensure a smoother experience during the transition.
For Android users with compatible hardware, Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) has been activated to enhance visual depth and realism. The update also features a refreshed app icon and added haptic feedback across both iOS and Android platforms, offering players a more immersive tactile response.
Several long-standing mission bugs have now been addressed. For instance, the notoriously tricky locker-picking sequence in the mission “That Bitch” has been corrected. In “Weed Killer,” progress will no longer be blocked if the window breaks prematurely. Additionally, issues with police cars falling through the floor during “The Rumble” have been resolved.
Other gameplay improvements include enemy AI adjustments in combat scenarios where foes previously refused to attack Jimmy—making fights feel balanced again. Players will also appreciate the fix for crashes that occasionally occurred when starting a new game or loading a save from the pause menu.
What Are Players Saying About Bully: Anniversary Edition?
Fans have been eagerly calling for a sequel, Bully 2, for well over a decade. However, Rockstar appears to have shifted focus elsewhere. Although early development reportedly began on a sequel in the 2010s, it was ultimately shelved in favor of projects like Red Dead Redemption 2 and the continued expansion of GTA Online.
With GTA 6 currently in development and many key members from the original Bully team having moved on, hopes for a sequel seem distant. That said, this Anniversary Edition isn’t a full remaster—but for mobile gamers, it's a solid upgrade that revitalizes the experience.
If you've never played before, Bully offers a unique blend of open-world mischief set within a school environment. You step into the shoes of Jimmy Hopkins, a 15-year-old troublemaker navigating life at Bullworth Academy. With its sharp satire and classic Rockstar charm, the game remains a standout entry in the studio’s portfolio.
Ready to dive in? Bully: Anniversary Edition is available now on the Google Play Store for €7.99, and includes full gamepad support for an enhanced gaming experience.
