Dune: Awakening Lets Players Ride Sandworms

by Peyton Sep 10,2025

While sandworm-riding remains the ultimate dream in Dune: Awakening despite its unofficial status, persistent players can actually achieve this feat - if they master precise timing and tolerate some visual quirks. Developer Funcom considered making it an official feature before ultimately shelving the idea.

Redditor SgtDolphin has demonstrated this improbable achievement through two separate videos, showcasing a combination of specialized skills and equipment including the high-speed Bindu Sprint ability, Full Suspensor Belt, and Emperor's Wings for aerial control. While you can't fully steer the worm (and will frequently get thrown off), Dolphin proves determined players can temporarily hitch a ride.

"The physics get especially unstable near displaced sand," SgtDolphin noted in the comments. "This dangerous stunt required countless worm-related deaths to perfect!"

Our ongoing review of Dune: Awakening continues, with our playtesters noting: "After 35+ hours I still feel like I'm scratching the surface - new zones remain undiscovered, the main story progress feels early, and PvP encounters have been limited. Expect deeper impressions later this week as I push toward endgame content."
