Respawn Axes Unreleased Titanfall Multiplayer Game

A former employee of the studio shared on LinkedIn that a game in development for several years has been abruptly halted this week, with no clear explanation provided for the decision. Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb noted that the project was not a mainline entry in the series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn Entertainment had assembled a special "experimental team" dedicated to this project, bringing in experts skilled in developing multiplayer shooters.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project; last year, they shut down an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall series, renowned for its thrilling mix of action and mech piloting, lets players engage in combat as agile pilots or command formidable Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the franchise has captivated players with its distinctive gameplay that seamlessly blends parkour with intense team battles.

Currently, Respawn is channeling its efforts into the development of the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, as well as a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, which they are creating in partnership with Bit Reactor.
