Remaster Returns: "Lunar" Collection Unveils Launch Date

The highly anticipated Lunar Remastered Collection is launching April 18th! This remastered duology, developed by Game Arts and published by GungHo Online Entertainment, brings the classic Lunar games to modern consoles and PC.

Key Features:

  • Release Date: April 18th, 2024 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC; compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Physical copies will be available in select North American and European stores.
  • Enhanced Visuals & Audio: Expect updated graphics, a re-recorded soundtrack, and widescreen support. A classic mode retains the original PS1-era aesthetic for purists.
  • Modernized Gameplay: Features include fully voiced dialogue (Japanese and English), new French and German subtitles, a combat speed-up option, and auto-battle functionality for streamlined gameplay.
  • Content: Includes both Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue, updated for a modern audience.

The announcement, made during a 2024 Sony State of Play, delighted fans of this beloved JRPG series, originally released on the Sega CD in 1992 and 1994. These remasters follow a successful trend of bringing classic JRPGs to modern platforms, suggesting a positive outlook for the collection's reception. The inclusion of quality-of-life improvements, such as faster combat and auto-battle, are now commonplace in remasters of older JRPGs, ensuring a more accessible experience for modern players. The success of the Grandia HD Collection, a previous collaboration between Game Arts and GungHo Online Entertainment, bodes well for the Lunar Remastered Collection's potential.
