The new Ratatan gameplay trailer, unveiled during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, provides an enthralling sneak peek into the game's mechanics. Developed by Ratatan Works, the trailer showcases an intense battle against a giant boss crab, highlighting the game's rhythm roguelike action elements. Ratatan seamlessly blends rhythm gaming with side-scrolling action, promising an engaging experience for players.

One of the standout features revealed is the inclusion of online co-op gameplay, supporting up to 4 players. This allows for a dynamic and collaborative gaming experience. Additionally, the game boasts the ability to control up to 100 characters in massive melee battles, adding depth and excitement to the gameplay.

Ratatan is being crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the original creator of Patapon, alongside the renowned Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi. Since launching its Kickstarter campaign in 2023, Ratatan has successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its release on various consoles.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Ratatan Gameplay Trailer Reveals 4 Person Online Co-Op

According to a recent post on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan's closed beta is scheduled to commence on February 27, 2025. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared insights into the upcoming events and milestones the game has achieved. Notably, the game has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and garnered positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo.

Despite the success, Ratatan will not be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the development team is prioritizing the closed beta test. The team's focus is on delivering an enhanced demo version for the Steam Next Festival in June.

Sakajiri outlined what players can expect from the closed beta. The initial build will include up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 to be added during the test period, which will last approximately one month. Details regarding the distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has not been announced, fans can look forward to more updates as the closed beta approaches.
