Pokémon TCG Pocket previews new trading feature and gives fresh details on implementation

by Julian Feb 27,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding a highly anticipated trading system! This new feature, launching later this month, lets players exchange cards with friends, mimicking real-life trading.

One of the challenges of digital TCGs is the absence of the physical card collecting experience. Pokémon TCG Pocket aims to address this with its new trading mechanic.

Here's how it works:

  • Friend-to-friend trading only: You can only trade with friends on your friend list.
  • Same rarity restriction: Cards must share the same rarity (1-4 stars) to be eligible for trading.
  • Consumable items: Traded cards are consumed; you won't retain a copy after trading.

The developers plan to monitor the system's performance after launch and make adjustments as needed. While some rarity tiers may be excluded from trading initially, and consumable currency might be involved, these details will likely be clarified upon release.

Despite potential initial limitations, this implementation is a strong first step for a much-requested feature. The developers' commitment to monitoring and improving the system is reassuring.
