Pokémon TCG Pocket butters up players with free trade tokens as they work on improving feature

by Stella Mar 15,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is offering 1000 Trade Tokens to all players as it works on revamping its trading system. This giveaway, accessible through the in-game Gifts menu, serves as a temporary measure while developers address player concerns.

The trading feature, while highly requested, has faced significant criticism since its launch. Players have voiced frustration with various aspects, prompting the developers to initiate a rework. The giveaway of Trade Tokens, a currency needed for trading, aims to alleviate some of this frustration in the interim.

Previous announcements detailed plans to simplify the trading process and make acquiring trading currency easier. Many players specifically cited restrictions like trading limitations based on card rarity and the mandatory use of in-game currency as major issues.

The initial design of the trading system presented a dilemma: either embrace completely open trading or forgo the feature entirely. While concerns about bot exploitation are valid, strict limitations likely wouldn't deter determined players.

The upcoming trading system overhaul is crucial. A well-implemented digital trading system could significantly enhance Pokémon TCG Pocket's appeal as a viable alternative to the physical card game.
