by Evelyn Mar 27,2025

Missing out on top community events in Pokémon Go can be a real bummer, especially when it means missing the chance to catch rare Pokémon with your friends. But don't worry if you've missed out this year—Niantic is bringing back the excitement with an exclusive end-of-year Catch-a-thon event!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 21st, and Sunday, December 22nd, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. This event promises featured Pokémon, including shiny appearances, and a host of special rewards. Here's what you can expect each day:

  • December 21st: Bellsprout, Chansey, Goomy, Rowlet, Litten, and Bounsweet.
  • December 22nd: Mankey, Ponyta, Galarian Ponyta, Sewaddle, Tynamo, and Popplio.

In the last ten minutes of each hour, keep an eye out for Porygon, Cyndaquil, Bagon, and Beldum. On top of that, you'll earn 2x XP for catching Pokémon, 2x Stardust, and a plethora of other rewards during this limited-time event. There's so much to do at this exclusive year-ending event, you won't know where to start! For all the juicy details, head over to the official Pokémon Go site!

Like no one ever was

It's been a monumental year for Pokémon Go with major updates like the debut of Gigantamax and other key features. It's no wonder Niantic is pulling out all the stops for one last major community event before the year ends. While hosting an event so close to the holidays might seem risky, I know many of you are such dedicated fans that a few hours in the cold won't stop you from joining in on the fun.
