Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has consistently stated it won't launch on the original Nintendo Switch due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?
Recent conversations with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas offer promising news for Switch fans. Wu confirmed that NetEase is actively engaging with Nintendo, acquiring development kits, and exploring a potential Switch 2 release. He explicitly stated that the original Switch's hardware limitations prevented a satisfactory gaming experience, but a Switch 2 port is a strong possibility if performance targets can be met.
The Nintendo Switch 2, officially unveiled last month, promises enhanced power and capabilities compared to its predecessor. Rumored mouse-like controller functionality could potentially improve the shooter experience, bringing it closer to PC controls. However, the specifics remain unclear.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 lacks a firm release date, a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms and has received positive critical reception, earning an 8/10 score in our review. We praised its strong position within the hero shooter genre. The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
