NieR: Automata Fishing Guide: Reel in Rewards and Riches
NieR: Automata offers more than just android-machine warfare. Explore a less violent side with fishing, a completely optional activity that can yield surprising rewards. While it won't boost your combat level, it's a remarkably easy way to acquire rare items and quickly earn money without the resource expenditure of combat.
How to Fish in NieR: Automata
Fishing is accessible in almost any body of water, even shallow puddles! Simply stand still in the water. A fishing prompt will appear above your character. Hold the designated button to initiate the fishing mini-game:
- PlayStation: O button
- Xbox: B button
- PC: Enter key
After casting your pod, wait for it to be fully submerged with a distinct "plop" sound. Quickly press the same button to reel in your catch. React within a second, or the fish escapes! You can cast repeatedly without limitation.
A helpful plug-in chip displays a fishing icon in the top right corner when you're near fishable water.
Rewards for Fishing in NieR: Automata
Most fish and junk items are valuable, providing a safe and efficient method for fast early-game money-making, particularly useful for upgrading your plug-in chip capacity. Fishing in sewers offers a chance to obtain the Iron Pipe, a potentially powerful weapon depending on your luck.
