Fans of the iconic children's show, *Sesame Street*, can breathe a sigh of relief as the beloved series, which has been entertaining and educating children since 1969, will continue to charm new generations. Following the end of its longstanding deal with HBO and Max at the close of 2024, *Sesame Street* is set to make its home on Netflix and PBS.
Starting soon, viewers worldwide will be able to stream both new and classic episodes of *Sesame Street* on Netflix. Additionally, new episodes will be available on the same day they air via PBS stations and the PBS Kids platform in the US, ensuring the continuation of a cherished 50+ year relationship. This exciting new chapter was announced by Sesame Street via their social media channels on May 19, 2025, emphasizing the unique public-private partnership with Netflix, PBS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. This collaboration aims to help children around the globe grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.

In addition to streaming, Netflix's burgeoning gaming arm will leverage this partnership to develop video games based on *Sesame Street* and its spinoff, *Sesame Street Mecha Builders*, allowing subscribers to play these games directly through the Netflix app using their mobile devices as controllers.
For season 56, *Sesame Street* is set to undergo some structural changes. Each episode will feature an 11-minute story segment, inspired by the format of other character-driven children's shows like *Bluey*. Alongside these changes, fans can look forward to the return of beloved segments such as Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck, ensuring a mix of new and nostalgic content.
Originally premiering in November 1969 and joining the PBS network in the 1970s, *Sesame Street* quickly became a cultural landmark. HBO and Max had been partners since 2015, with a $35 million deal for new episodes. However, as HBO and Max shifted their focus away from children's programming at the end of 2024, they chose not to renew their deal. Despite this, the *Sesame Street* library will remain accessible on HBO and Max until 2027, marking a slight extension of the original 10-year agreement, though without the production rights.
This new era for *Sesame Street* promises to keep the spirit of the show alive, bringing joy and learning to children across the globe through innovative partnerships and platforms.
