Marvel enthusiasts eager to see more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will be pleased to know that future plans are in the works for the character, according to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television. However, fans shouldn't expect a second season of the Disney+ show, as the strategy for Marvel Television has shifted since Moon Knight's debut in 2022.
Previously, Marvel's approach involved introducing characters through their own TV series, setting the stage for their integration into larger MCU narratives. This was evident with the introduction of Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel before her role in The Marvels. However, Winderbaum explained that Marvel Television is now adopting a more conventional television model, focusing on shows that are released annually.
Winderbaum shared his enthusiasm for Moon Knight, stating, "I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road." This suggests that while a direct continuation of the series might not be on the immediate horizon, the character's journey within the MCU will continue in other forms.
While Oscar Isaac lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the Disney+ animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there hasn't been any confirmation yet on his return in live-action.
Looking ahead, the MCU's confirmed lineup of upcoming TV shows on Disney+ includes Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. However, last week saw Marvel Television reportedly pausing development on three other shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. On a more positive note, Winderbaum mentioned that Marvel is exploring the possibility of bringing back the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
