Marvel Rivals fans recently enjoyed their first weekend with new playable characters Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, but some are struggling to take Reed Richards as seriously as the other heroes. Mister Fantastic debuted with the launch of Season 1 on Friday, January 10, introducing his elastic abilities to the battlefield as one of the first post-launch heroes in Marvel Rivals. As a Duelist, his powers allow him to take long swings at one or multiple enemies, and he can also expand his body to adopt a more tank-like role. A character who can contort his body into strange shapes naturally invites a lot of meme potential. Comparisons to One Piece's protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, particularly due to Mister Fantastic's Elastic Strength ability, have already become popular. This has even inspired the modding community to create a One Piece custom skin, despite NetEase's recent crackdown on modding. Transforming into a rubber bodybuilder is inherently humorous, but some fans, like X/Twitter user @BOOMERANG_117, have taken creativity further by imagining Reed Richards without his new beard.
While slightly unsettling, it's Mister Fantastic's Reflexive Rubber ability that has garnered the most laughs. This useful tool can reflect enemy damage back at them, but its execution looks almost too silly in motion, with Mister Fantastic growing to the size of a refrigerator. One Reddit user encapsulated the sentiment well, stating, "Ngl I think Mr. Fantastic's design encapsulates everything great about this game. He's stupid and silly and cheesy and the game just lets him be that and is better for it."

While it remains to be seen if Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman will become fan favorites in Marvel Rivals, they've certainly made a strong impression during their debut weekend. As Season 1 progresses, players can look forward to the addition of the remaining Fantastic Four members, The Thing and Human Torch, in the second half of the season. Their arrival is eagerly anticipated, and fans hope they will make just as memorable an entrance.
