Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game development studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its anticipated FPS game, Deadrop.
In an X post, the studio stated that it would be closing its doors after three years, impacting a team of over 55 developers. The announcement included a plea for job opportunities for its now-displaced employees.
Midnight Society was established by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn Delhoy (Halo). Deadrop, their flagship free-to-play PvPvE extraction shooter, aimed for a 2024 release but ultimately failed to meet its target.

The studio parted ways with Beahm in 2024 following controversies surrounding inappropriate messages exchanged with a minor via Twitch Whispers. Despite this separation, development on Deadrop continued until the recent studio closure.
Deadrop was set in a unique, retro-futuristic 80s-inspired universe. Promotional materials showcased characters sporting Daft Punk-esque helmets, wielding both firearms and melee weapons.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of game studios facing challenges and layoffs in the current difficult climate. This trend has already impacted major companies such as Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs, among others.
