To enhance the gameplay experience and increase the popularity of underutilized characters like Storm and Black Widow, NetEase Games implemented significant balance adjustments to the heroes of Marvel Rivals in January, marking the beginning of Season 1. These updates have significantly boosted Storm's performance and popularity. According to Rivals Meta, Storm now leads the pack with the highest win rate, a stark contrast to her previous standing on the hero selection list.
In competitive mode, Storm boasts an impressive win percentage of over 56%, with her pick rate surging to 16%. This is a remarkable increase from her previous negligible pick rate of less than 1%. She has now surpassed popular heroes such as Adam Warlock, Jeff, Spider-Man, Hela, Hulk, Magic, and Iron Man, among others.
Despite Storm's rise, the most favored character duo of the season remains Cloak and Dagger, although their win percentage has dipped below 49%. On the other hand, Black Widow continues to be the least popular and least effective character in the game.
Marvel Rivals is currently witnessing growth, with hundreds of thousands of players engaging in the game, including its competitive mode. Achieving the prestigious Grandmaster title, which only 0.1% of players can claim, remains an exclusive feat, even with the existence of the Celestial rank.
Reaching such a high rank is challenging, yet one player has achieved an extraordinary milestone. In the first season, this player reached Grandmaster without taking any damage across 108 games, focusing solely on healing teammates while playing as Rocket Raccoon. They managed to restore over 2.9 million health points and recorded nearly 3,500 assists, all while avoiding any knockouts.
