Marvel Rivals has just unveiled its exciting Spring Festival event, set to kick off this Thursday. Players can look forward to snagging a free Star-Lord costume and diving into a unique new game mode called Clash of Dancing Lions. In this mode, teams of three players will compete to score a ball into their opponents' goal, a concept that might remind you of Rocket League at first glance. However, a closer look reveals that Clash of Dancing Lions has more in common with Lucioball, the inaugural special game mode from Overwatch, which itself drew inspiration from Rocket League.
This comparison is particularly noteworthy because Marvel Rivals is currently positioned to outshine Overwatch. To establish its unique identity and distance itself from the Blizzard title, Marvel Rivals must introduce distinctive content. Yet, its first major event features a mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's initial event. The key difference lies in the thematic approach: Overwatch's mode was themed around the Olympic Games, while Marvel Rivals infuses strong Chinese cultural elements into its Spring Festival event.
The good news is that fans won't have to wait long to experience this new event, as the Spring Festival is just around the corner, starting this Thursday.
