Marvel Rivals May Be Headed to Nintendo Switch 2

by Madison Mar 04,2025

The arrival of Marvel Rivals on the Nintendo Switch 2, once deemed impossible, now appears increasingly likely. While NetEase previously dismissed a release on the original Switch due to technical limitations, the next-generation console could alter the situation significantly.

At the DICE Summit, producer Weikang Wu confirmed ongoing discussions with Nintendo. The primary challenge remains ensuring consistent, high-quality performance on the new hardware:

"The original Switch lacked the processing power needed for the gameplay experience we envisioned. However, if the Switch 2 proves capable, we're prepared to bring the game to the platform."

Marvel RivalsImage: opencritic.com Game director Thaddeus Sasser previously stated that neither a mobile version nor a release for the original Switch was currently planned. A Switch 2 port, if it happens, would necessitate a tailored build optimized for the console's specifications.

The officially announced Nintendo Switch 2 has already garnered significant support from major industry players. Phil Spencer indicated Xbox's interest in bringing its games to the platform, and Electronic Arts (EA) has also expressed its enthusiasm.

Marvel Rivals itself is set for continued growth, with the anticipated addition of two Fantastic Four members to the roster in future updates.
