LEGO's Unveiling of its Largest Jurassic World Set: A Colossal T-Rex Skeleton

LEGO has just announced its most ambitious Jurassic World set to date: a monumental T-Rex skeleton spanning over three feet in length. This impressive build includes minifigures of Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant, iconic characters from the original Jurassic Park film, where this very skeleton makes its appearance in the visitor center. Priced at $249.99, the set will be available on the LEGO Store starting March 12th for LEGO Insiders (free registration available) and March 15th for general release.

LEGO Jurassic World Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex

  • Price: $249.99 at the LEGO Store
  • Release Date: March 15th (March 12th for Insiders)
  • Pieces: 3,145
  • Ages: 18+
  • Dimensions: L: 105cm (41.3in) / H: 33cm (12.9in)

This 3,145-piece set is categorized for ages 18+, suggesting it's intended as a display piece rather than a playset. The build incorporates advanced techniques potentially challenging for younger builders.

The sheer scale of this set is truly impressive. While pictures offer a glimpse, the inclusion of Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler minifigures provides some perspective; the assembled skeleton measures over three feet long. The skull is remarkably similar to the currently available LEGO T-Rex skull set (a personal favorite, my son's build is fantastic!). However, the complete skeleton elevates the overall impact significantly.

The articulated joints allow for dynamic posing – the head moves, the jaw opens, and the arms and tail are fully adjustable. True to LEGO's movie-themed sets, several hidden Easter eggs await discovery during construction. A display stand and informational plaque detailing the T-Rex's diet, habitat, and other facts are also included.

While LEGO's Jurassic World collection may not yet rival the extensive Star Wars or Harry Potter lines, its rapid growth is evident. This impressive T-Rex skeleton is a strong indication of a promising future for adult-oriented LEGO sets within the franchise.
