Pokémon TCG Pocket Adds Lugia and Ho-Oh in New Set

Get ready for a massive new expansion in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket: The Wisdom of Sea and Sky. Arriving on July 30, 2025, this update introduces the legendary duo Lugia and Ho-Oh to the mobile game as powerful EX cards.

What's New in This Expansion?

The expansion spotlights the Johto region. Lugia and Ho-Oh take center stage, accompanied by classic favorites such as Eeveelutions, Baby Pokémon, and familiar Trainer cards like Lyra and Silver.

The set also shakes up gameplay. For the first time, certain Pokémon feature attacks that require no Energy. This innovation opens up exciting new deck-building strategies, particularly for aggressive playstyles or decks that bypass traditional Energy curves.

Additional new features include the Energy Switch and Rescue Scarf items, as well as new Supporter cards featuring Lyra and Silver. Furthermore, the Lugia EX and Ho-Oh EX cards appear to encourage strategies that utilize multiple different types of Energy.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Trading System Receives a Major Overhaul

Starting July 30, 2025, at 06:00 UTC, a new wishlist system will allow you to showcase the cards you're searching for. You can add up to 20 cards to your list and feature three of them prominently on your profile.

The trading currency is also being updated. Trade tokens are being phased out and will no longer be used for transactions. Instead, trading for high-rarity cards (rated ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, or ★) will require a new resource called Shinedust.

You can obtain Shinedust by completing achievements, undertaking in-game missions, or by pulling duplicate cards from packs. Any remaining Trade Tokens in your inventory can be exchanged for Pack Hourglasses or Shinedust, with a maximum of 60 Pack Hourglasses available through this conversion.

Trading will be temporarily suspended from July 25 at 06:00 UTC until July 30 at 05:59 UTC to implement these updates. Once trading resumes, all new features—including the wishlist and Shinedust trades—will be active.

Download the game now from the Google Play Store and prepare for the arrival of these legendary Pokémon.
