Idris Elba Pitches Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action with Keanu Reeves
Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has voiced his strong support for a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film featuring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, promoting his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he again shares the screen with Reeves), Elba expressed his excitement at the prospect. He stated that a live-action adaptation of the game would be incredible, particularly with himself and Reeves reprising their roles. The potential pairing of their characters, he believes, would be "Whoa."
Elba's enthusiasm is fueled by the existing chemistry between himself and Reeves, stemming from their separate appearances in the game. Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand, while Elba played Solomon Reed in the Phantom Liberty expansion.
This idea isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. Variety reported in October 2023 that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project is underway, with CD Projekt Red collaborating with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce and updates have been slow, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action Witcher series suggests a live-action Cyberpunk adaptation is a viable undertaking.

Beyond the live-action possibility, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched its first chapter. Written by Bartosz Sztybor, it will focus on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. The manga is currently available in several languages, with English release details pending. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red has hinted at a new animated series in development.
