If you’re a fan of Japanese music, you’re likely familiar with HYDE, the iconic musician who has graced stages like Madison Square Garden and sold over 40 million records. Now, HYDE takes center stage in a new endless runner game called Hyde Run, which has just launched globally. Initially released in Japan, this game now allows fans worldwide to immerse themselves in a gaming experience filled with nods to HYDE’s illustrious career, as announced by the game's developer and publisher, Phoenixx.
Move, Jump or Slide in Hyde Run
In Hyde Run, you'll parkour through an electrifying blend of concert stages and a futuristic Tokyo. As HYDE, you'll race across Neo Tokyo, dodging obstacles, wall-running past billboards, and collecting musical notes. The game’s atmosphere is infused with a high-energy, neon-and-noise vibe, setting it apart from typical endless runners by incorporating elements of guitar solos and HYDE’s unique fan service.
While navigating the city, you can pick up various power-ups such as magnets that attract notes or barriers that shield you from damage. Before each run, you can equip items like Note Gain to collect more notes or a Barrier to avoid tripping over obstacles. Additionally, collecting crystals allows you to unlock exclusive outfits and room items from HYDE's extensive career, along with voice clips by unlocking the Microphone Stand.
There’s More Stuff in the Game to Do
Hyde Run also offers the chance to customize HYDE’s room, featuring memorabilia spanning 20 years of his career, including old tour gear and more obscure references. Hidden items throughout the game unlock additional messages and voice notes from HYDE, adding depth to the experience.
Currently, until June 10th, 2025, players can access limited-time content, including the THE LAST ROCKSTARS Costume Set, which showcases HYDE in an iconic look from a music video, complete with matching ROCK Furniture like leopard prints, vintage trunks, and stage spotlights. For a more relaxed vibe, the Bat Jinbei Costume Set offers a summer-festival feel, while a Japanese-style furniture set with bamboo, bonboris, and a wind chime shaped like HYDE’s Edyh character provides a traditional aesthetic.
